Fito and Jake Gallardo tackle XR Dominator at Salina Highbanks Speedway
Both Fito and Jake made the trek to the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor, OK for the $100,000 to win XR Dominator this past weekend in one of the biggest paying events in Modified history. Friday night, teams practiced and qualified. Fito qualified 8th and Jake 9th, earning themselves heat race starting positions 3 for Fito and 5 for Jake on Saturday.
Fito ran fifth in his heat race, putting himself 12th in the b-main, which he was able race into a transfer spot before breaking a wheel, ending his run. He did make repairs and run the Non-Qualifier $2,000 to win feature, starting 8th and finishing 6th.
Jake finished 7th in his heat, forcing him into the c-main, which he started 8th and finished 6th to earn a spot in the b. In the b, he started 19th, and after a rough and tumble event, raced his way back toward the front, finishing 9th, grabbing one of the last two transfer spots into the night's feature.
In the 60-lap, $100,000 to win feature, he rolled off 23rd, but ended up caught up in a mess, going into the work area and coming back to multiple laps down to the field, so after racing a few more laps, he elected to retire from the event, ending his night.
