Gallardo trio compete in USMTS King of America Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway
Fito, Jake and Peyton made the trip to the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri for the 15th annual USMTS King of America Modified Nationals.
The three-day event kicked off on Thursday night with Fito qualifying 11th, Jake 13th and Peyton 24th out of the 66 cars on hand. Fito then went on to win his qualifying heat race to start the night, Peyton ran 8th in his heat and Jake unfortunately fell out of his heat. Fito's heat race win put him 14th in the feature lineup. He ended up being credited with a 21st place finish. Jake then rallied from 13th up to 6th in the b-main, while Peyton ran 16th in the b.
Friday, Fito qualified 7th, Jake 17th and Peyton 23rd to start the night. Fito then raced to a 4th place finish in his heat race, with Jake and Peyton both finishing 9th in their respective heats. All three drivers had b-main finishes of 5th (Fito), 6th (Jake) and 14th (Peyton).
Saturday, for the $15,000 finale, Fito was able to race to a 6th place finish in the b-main, then win the Last Change Race, qualifying for the big show. In the feature, he rolled off 23rd and finished 28th officially after 60 laps. Jake ran 7th in the b-main and 6th in the LCR, while Peyton ran 12th in the b and 16th in the LCR to end the weekend.
