Fito, Jake, and Peyton kick 2026 home season at Vado Speedway Park
The home 2026 season for Team GRC kicked off this past weekend with the running of the annual Winter Meltdown at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM on Friday and Saturday nights.
Both nights featured big paydays and great competition in the USRA Modified division.
Friday, Fito raced from 5th to 2nd in his heat race and then raced inside the top ten during the feature as well, starting 5th and racing home with a third place finish. Peyton fell out of his heat race to start the night, but then advanced from 17th up to 5th in the b-main to transfer into the feature, where he raced from 21st up to finish 14th, salvaging the night.
Saturday, Fito raced to another top ten finish, running from 7th to 6th in his heat, then from 7th to 4th in the b-main before starting 20th in the night's 30-lap feature and racing his way to a 9th place finish when the checkered flag flew. Peyton had another hard charging night, racing from 8th to 7th in his heat, before starting 10th in the b-main and finishing 5th. Once he got into the feature, he rallied from 21st into the top ten, passing 11 cars, crossing the finish line in 10th.
Jake had a weekend to forget, suffering mechanical issues both Friday and Saturday nights, forcing him to not start any racing Friday, and after a starting and finishing 7th in his heat on Saturday, he fell out of the night's b-main, ending his weekend early.
